It's important to understand that even MS Office for Mac and MS Office for Windows may not always display the same file in the same way. Fonts used on the source machine may not exist on the destination, there are slight feature differences, etc. Of course, printed output from Office on two different machines, regardless of platform, will also be different, as printers have different capabilities and feature sets.
Pages usually does a pretty good job with MS Word files, in my experience. Not a perfect job, but then, MS Word for Mac never did a perfect job either. I would advise testing with a few different kinds of files she has to work with. If you don't want to buy Pages if you're not sure, try going to an Apple Store with a flash drive and ask if you can test some Word files with Pages on one of their floor machines.
